Fall Dance 2022
Agnes de Mille Theatre
September 2022
Role: Production Manager
Location: Agnes de Mille Theatre, Winston-Salem, NC
Format: Mixed-repertory dance program (three works: classical to contemporary)
Three choreographers (Brenda Daniels, Mariana Oliveira, Anthony Bryant), three lighting looks, and conflicting atmospheric needs. Piece one required a clean stage with no haze. Piece two demanded dense haze for beams. Piece three needed a light, transparent stage picture. With only minutes between pieces, I designed and ran an airflow and transition plan that hit each look without slipping the schedule or raising the noise floor.
Key contributions
• Organized and led production meetings. Drove agendas, captured decisions, and assigned owners.
• Managed the budget. Leveled bids, tracked actuals, approved purchases, and protected contingencies.
• Served as primary contact across five production departments, creative teams, and venue stakeholders.
• Ran tech and cueing sessions on comms. Kept changeovers on time and aligned departments to the plan.
• Conducted the hot wash. Logged issues and set actionable improvements for future dance programs.
• Engineered the atmospheric strategy. Set per-piece haze targets, preloaded density for the middle work, and executed a rapid clear for the closer with quiet fan placement and HVAC timing.
Outcomes
Program ran on schedule. Each piece hit its lighting and atmosphere brief without noise or visibility issues. Budget closed cleanly. Tech notes were executed on time. Hot-wash actions rolled into the next cycle.
