Agnes de Mille Theatre

April 2022

Role: Assistant Production Manager

Location: Agnes de Mille Theater, Winston-Salem, NC

Format: Full Orchestral Opera

A full-scale opera directed by Eve Summer with an all-white 16th-century Venetian palazzo set, moving scenic elements, extravagant costuming, and a live orchestra in the pit. The white architecture made lighting control and spill management a central design challenge. I supported the production from concepting through hot wash, turning creative notes into buildable plans and keeping schedule, safety, and show flow intact.

Key contributions

• Issued action notes, tracked risks, and locked late changes only after safety and timing checks.

• Managed the master schedule across shops, paint, props, wardrobe, audio, lighting, orchestra rehearsals, load-in, focus, paper tech, cue-to-cue, and dress.

• Coordinated stage automation envelopes and deck traffic with stage management and technical direction.

• Partnered with lighting on an all-white environment: scheduled tests, coordinated sample approval.

• Structured quick-change workflows with wardrobe, hair, and makeup; tied costume timing to scene shifts and musical cues.

• Synced with the music team and conductor on tempi, holds, and intermission timing so scenic moves and automation aligned to the score.

Outcomes

The palazzo install opened on schedule with safe automation lanes and clean sightlines. Lighting achieved the intended palette on an all-white set without glare or spill. Props and costumes landed on time. Quick changes met targets. Tech notes stayed tight, and performance timing held steady through opening.
